Legal to Spatial Converter - This web service provides the utility to convert standard USGS legal descriptions to spatial coordinates. This service currently supports conversion to Geographic, State Plane South, and State Plane North. Both the NAD27 and NAD83 Datums are also supported.

This conversion process was developed based upon certain assumptions regarding the geometry of a typical section. In some cases, a section does not fit these assumptions, and there may be problems with the resulting coordinates that are generated. This service was designed to provide a rough approximation of the location based upon the legal description provided. If you need precise positioning, more conventional surveying methods should be used.
